Hey all!
So, I was inspired to start writing a guide on how to be a successful platoon leader... and it got a bit out of control. I would love it if you would take some time to look over the project and provide me with some feedback. What do you like? What don't you like? Anything you would change/remove/add? Any facts I got wrong? Any discussions you think need to be in there?
Vanu Field Manual X-01: Combat Leadership
The guide is currently about halfway done (maybe?). I have covered the bulk of rudimentary platoon and squad leader skills, but I haven't begun to crack the surface of strategy and tactics yet. Ultimately I want to include sections on how to do a successful MAX crash, galaxy drop, how to coordinate with another platoon to draw enemy forces in one area in order to cap another, where to place sunderers and spawn beacons, etc. I also want to include a section detailing base-specific information, such as the hardest bases to cap during an alert, where the vulnerabilities on tough bases are, etc.
Right now I'm getting a little "lost in the weeds" trying to describe the intangible factors behind leading a platoon, such as the decision making process to determine where to attack/defend. Not entirely sure I'm approaching it in the best way right now, but it's what I've come up with so far. I'm also strongly considering just adding a conclusion to this draft, and then making two or three new manuals for the rest of it. X-02: Strategy, X-03: Tactics, X-04: Analysis of Key Bases. The big problem is that I'm ADHD like crazy (I wrote all of this in the last 24 hours), and I'm worried that if I put the project down I'll never pick it back up.
Also, I'd happily take on co-authors who want to write a section or three! I could also really use an editor to check the draft for consistency, grammar, etc.
Please Note: I can only claim credit for a fraction of the information in this guide, it is mostly compiling information from other sources into one comprehensive package. I intend to add an Acknowledgements section in the final draft.
And now for a preview of what is yet to come:

-Lots of Chatter
-Players Rarely Kicked
-Shenanegans

-Stick With Squads
-Players Can Be Kicked
Tactical Ops Platoon
-Often Private
-Very Objective Oriented
-Players Delegated Specific Roles
-Limited Extraneous Chatter
